Off The Road

rich | Backpacking | Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

I am packed and ready to leave. I have a half day of driving before I get into a roadless area, the Rawah Wilderness Area in northern Colorado. I have been spending much of my time outdoors this summer, but my cycling has been keeping me on paved roads. The greatest thing about wilderness areas is that they are completely roadless and they don’t allow mountain bikes either. I will not miss the road.

This week is a solo trip and next week I will pick up Lisa and spend time in southern Colorado at Mesa Verde National Park and then backpacking in the Weminuche Wilderness area.

I am carrying close to 45 pounds, with my Nikon and a fly rod, but that will get lighter as I consume food. too.
