Many people find making pie crusts difficult, but it really needn’t be if you understand the principles behind pastry and don’t expect to follow a precise recipe. No recipe can give you exact proportions for pastry because your flour will vary in moisture content given its age and the relative humidity where you live. However, it is not difficult to make a great pie crusts if you understand a few simple pastry concepts and practices.

I have been hosting my domains out of my basement for the last seven years. First they were on a linux box and then on Mac OS X Server. The move to OS X server really made things pretty easy, but I still had to maintain the hardware, and most of it is getting old. Since I didn’t want to buy a new server right now, and I would like to save electricity and reduce the fan noise in our family room, I decided to search for a hosting provider.

I just finished a major overhaul of this site, including a migration off of the server in my basement to a real hosting service. Not that there was anything wrong with hosting it in my basement, but I am getting a little tired of being a system administrator when I should be spending my time writing for the site instead. While moving the site, I made extensive changes to the theme to make it look more modern and also did a lot of extension work to makes sure that the site is behaving well with Google, Technorati, and others.
